Sustaina Grow - Meet a kiwi company with similar goals to turn waste into a new product for a new life cycle

Do you ever meet like-minded companies or people that just Get it! The story, the mission, it’s just effortless yarns…

We were recently fortunate to meet Sustaina Grow at Fieldays. Their unwavering passion for turning wool into a viable product is inspiring, and at a time when wool needs creativity and innovation this company is doing just that!

We feel a connection as like us they are turning waste back into a new product, new life cycle.

As you may know, wool is the ultimate renewable resource. Every year, sheep grow a fleece of wool which must be shorn for the health and hygiene of the animal. Not only is wool fully biodegradable but when it breaks down into the soil, it releases nutrients essential for plant growth which is why we use it to create quality garden products. Personally Greg and I now mulch full fleece wool back into the paddocks at the sheep and beef farm, Greg’s great grandparents who were farmers would be rolling in their graves to see what the price of wool has meant for so many farmers today, hence are love of Sustaina Grow to have show adaptability and ingenuity in re-thinking how the wool can be used!

Sustaina Grow makes tree guards, grow pots, corporate gifts ideas and large rolls of mulch matt that has proved highly beneficial for young vines, the rolls are also good for building sites to keep the mud levels low during the upcoming wetter months…

They are connecting sustainability to commercial viability, and deserves a round of applause.

When you are fencing off and planting up waterways, or even on your new winery re-developments; consider using their sustainable materials. You are not only harnessing the natural benefits of wool, such as moisture retention and biodegradability but also supporting ethical and sustainable farming practices and supporting better farm gate returns for sheep farmers.

Chat to the team at Sustaina Grow…this isn’t a paid plug, we just honestly wanted to get the word out of this company as we just LOVE what they are doing! and are proud as punch they are doing the same on their website.

Us small kiwi family run businesses should stick together and we are proud to do so! Especially as like us they have a few small kids running around so know how hard it is to juggle multiple businesses… But also like us they wouldn’t have it any other way, the legacy and drive we are showing our children is worth it; even if some days those free-range kids get caked in mud and we are running the third bath of the day!
